Testimonials

Hear from the students who have participated in Tracy’s classes!

We have been practicing both Yoga and Pilates with Tracy for 6 years and in our 35 plus years with various teachers, she is by far the best. Tracy describes and demonstrates each pose and also explains its impact on the body and the spine. She often offers multiple variations of each pose based on participant ability and body type.  Her understanding of and ability to explain the workings of the body is second to none. She does this all with great compassion, sensitivity and humor.  Each class is unique, and she strives to avoid repetition and keeps each class new and interesting. She is very open to feedback and reserves time at the end of each class to discuss what worked and what we’d like to see in the future. We were so fortunate to attend Tracy’s Yoga retreat in France where she combined daily practice with wonderful fieldtrips to historic sites. We couldn’t ask for a better teacher.

I am so fortunate to have found Tracy’s classes this past year! As a long time yoga practitioner, I came to Pilates to help deal with some long standing back pain issues, but her classes have been so much more than this. She weaves elements of yoga, Pilates, and Qi Gong into her classes and masterfully layers in philosophy and principles from these three disciplines. I love how her themes connect to the natural world outside as well as a deep appreciation of our own internal environment. Her classes can be challenging, yet accessible for whatever level you wish to practice, as she gives variations to address each person’s level and ability.

I now have much more freedom of movement in my body and spine, yet I feel more deep structural integrity, which feels pretty good in this 66 year old body!

Tracy’s classes always leave me feeling inspired and uplifted to take what I’ve learned into daily life!

Nadine PhotoIn the three years that I’ve been studying with Tracy I’ve learned more about my body than in all of my previous 25 years of regular yoga classes. Her subtle cues have taught me that an asana isn’t simply the form but a beautiful combination of muscles and bones and joints working together to become that form.  Bringing attention to the core in yoga classes as well as in Pilates classes has enabled me to finally master my biggest challenge after all of these years- Tree Pose and understanding how my entire body works together to balance itself.

Tracy is a kind and gracious woman who shines a lovely light and  an amazing teacher whose constant quest for knowledge about the body makes yoga and Pilates classes exciting adventures. All of her students are so grateful to her.

Tracy is a superb teacher. We take Pilates, Oov, Qi gong, Yoga and special classes and hate to miss a session. Even via zoom she watches each participant, giving personalized feedback in a clear and caring way. Tracy’s knowledge of each discipline and the human body is impressive. She is dedicated to learning and teaching – conducting every class with clarity and enthusiasm. She is a great listener. We consider her a community treasure.

Tracy moves and teaches from the heart. Her classes are the best I’ve ever experienced.

I take three classes a week, which keeps me strong, aware and calm. I feel better physically, mentally and emotionally.  I am learning how to pay attention to the inside while interacting with the outside.

She delivers vast amounts of information in simple, sometimes poetic language. I practice what I learn in class when I’m doing the laundry, going up stairs, lifting groceries and or sitting on the sofa with a book.  I breathe more effectively and I am more in tune with my body as my partner and friend. I’ve stopped pushing so hard and have learned to understand and appreciate all the work my body does for me every single day.

I’ve never gotten hurt in her class and Tracy is adamant about adjusting in whatever way your body needs to. There is nothing to keep up with. She prefers grace to speed, precision over reps. These are not one size fits all classes but rather simple studies in how to find and maximize your core strengths and abilities.  She offers regular classes and also does specialized ones, which focus on one part of the body.

In so many ways these classes have been a great blessing to me.  She is a gifted teacher.

Hi Tracy,

I wanted to tell you that last week I strained my lower back again while exercising a little too hard. I thought I was looking at several weeks of rest and no exercise. I was really in pain. BUT, the next day I followed your video Pilates practice with a lot of modification – including 3-D breathing and somatic walking in place of movements that were too strenuous, and felt immediate relief. The day after I was able to do the entire class gently, except for the multifidi practice at the end, and a few days later, today, I’m really quite better.

I feel that I’ve gained an incredible healing tool through your teaching, and wanted to let you know that. Thank you!

I’ve been studying yoga with Tracy Lease for years. She is a thoroughly educated yoga and Pilates teacher who is continually learning deeper methods. Not only is Tracy well-schooled in the healing arts, she is a true teacher who strives to assist her students in safe ways their bodies can work toward achieving proper alignment while doing postures. After training with Tracy for years, I went to her retreat in Mexico in January 2017. Immersing myself in the program proved amazingly beneficial. Tracy planned a perfect blend of classes, beach time, activities, group and individual time, capped with contemplative guided meditation. I highly recommend her as a teacher and retreat guide.

I started taking yoga classes from Tracy about 10 years ago after having dabbled in yoga off and on for much of my adult life. She is a true teacher. I feel that there is a big difference between teachers who simply lead a class and those who teach. Tracy teaches and she always teaches to the individuals who make up her class, not just a generic sea of bodies. Everyone feels seen. I have learned so much from Tracy beyond the basic yoga poses: yoga philosophy, pranayama, proper alignment, and how to sustain my own yoga practice, which I am doing to this day. Tracy has a passion for learning and for teaching what she has learned and every person in the class feels like an important part of the process. I truly believe that Tracy is the reason that yoga has become and remains an important part of my life.

Tracy Lease is my favorite yoga teacher! I love her passion and enthusiasm for what she is teaching! She integrates all that she has learned to date from a variety of modalities into her teaching, and provides attention to the body’s alignment with offerings to individual students for modifications that might be needed or useful depending on particular body needs. If desired, her hands on assists with poses helps students experience more deeply the positive direction to be taking their individual practice. If Tracy is teaching, then I want to be there to experience it!

Tracy is a wonderful and natural yoga teacher, and is very good at teaching beginners to advanced students. She has a knack for recognizing one’s limits, while gracefully reminding everyone to be mindful of their own limits. She’s passionate about sharing yoga with others, and makes everyone feel at ease. Her classes are fabulous!

Tracy’s passion for her practice comes through in her class. It is not only a teaching, but a sharing. I feel as though Tracy cares about and attends to my practice as much as she attends to her own. I went to her class because of this—as well as Tracy’s technical experience. I often felt like we learned something new in each class. Tracy also took requests and feedback from students. The knowledge and experience required for that kind of flexibility and spontaneity is special and refreshing.
